Remote Camera Kits (RCKs) Eliminate the Need for Computers

This is a game changer!

What is a Remote Camera Kit and how does it change the game for SkyCoach? Beginning in Spring/Summer of 2020, SkyCoach will begin shipping our Remote Camera Kits (RCK) with all packages except for our Bronze Package.  The RCK completely eliminates the need for computers from the SkyCoach system.

How does it work? The Remote Camera Kit will connect to your camera using an HDMI cord and it will connect to the network using Ethernet.  The feed from the camera will appear on the screen of the RCK. Again, you will no longer need a computer to run the SkyCoach system.

Now that computers are no longer a part of the system, how do you control the replay? An iOS device can be used to control the start and stop of the RCKs on the network. If the iOS device is being used to record a camera angle then starting and stopping the iOS device will also start and stop all RCKs on the network. You can also use an iOS device in controller mode which basically allows you to start, stop, and tag plays without actually recording with the iOS device’s camera.

How many Remote Camera Kits can I use at one time? 1 Remote Camera Kit = 1 angle. Our current packages support up to 3 angles, which means you can film with up to 3 HD cameras using 3 RCKs. Here is a breakdown of the package combinations:

  • Platinum Plus: 3 RCKs provided allowing you to film 3 angles from existing HD Cameras

  • Platinum: 2 RCKs provided allowing you to film 2 angles from existing HD Cameras and up to 1 additional angle from an iOS device (iPad or iPhone)

  • Gold: 1 RCK provided allowing you to film 1 angle from an existing HD Camera and up to 2 additional angles from iOS devices (iPad or iPhone)

  • Silver: 1 RCK provided allowing you to film 1 angle from an existing HD Camera and up to 2 additional angles from iOS devices (iPad or iPhone).  The Silver package does limit from where you can film.  You must choose to film from either end zone or press box.  Also, you would need to choose Gold package if you wanted to only film in the end zone, but also view in the press box. This package is most ideal for teams who want to film in the Press Box only OR in the End Zone only, but will not have coaches who are viewing in the Press Box.

  • Bronze: No RCKs; however, there are still no computers required and you can film with up to 2 iOS devices!
