Tethered Drones

Teams are increasingly turning to drones for their video. It is hard to beat the views drones can provide and how simple they are to setup compared to the alternatives. Drones do have their drawbacks. Changing batteries every 20 minutes, learning how to fly them, and worrying about wind gusts that could blow the drone out onto the field of play.

Tethered drones solve these problems. Tethered systems provide power to the drone through the tether so that the drone does not have to come down for frequent battery changes. With tethered system built-in batteries, the drone can stay in the air for many hours. If you are near a power outlet the drone could be powered indefinitely.

Tethered systems restrict where the drone can travel. You don’t have to worry about the drone ending up on the field of play or crashing into the stands. The tension the tether creates makes it easier to control the drone. Better control reduces the number of crashes.

SkyCoach is now selling the Drone-Tek Tether System.
